ASHCAN is a theatrical fiction documentary. ASHCAN tells the little-known story of the secret prison where the main Nazi leaders were held after the Allied victory on May 8, 1945, under the authority of the American army in Mondorf-les-Bains in Luxembourg: Goering, Doenitz, Keitel, Rosenberg, Ley, Frank, Streicher, Seyss-Inquart, Lutz von Krosigk, von Papen…
This is the gray period between the end of the war and the Nuremberg trials. The allies won World War II. But they know almost nothing about the Nazi regime which set Europe on fire and bloodshed. They want to understand.
The film plunges the viewer into the heart of the discovery of the Nazi regime and its leaders by American military intelligence. Without the slightest use of force or torture, a handful of young American officers will obtain from the worst criminals of humanity exceptional information on the defeated regime. The film reveals the information kept secret until this day.
